Love Is: PDF Print E-mail
Love IsHow would you complete this sentence: “The highest goal of my life is to ______.” How you complete that sentence reveals the driving force in your life.

That driving force is what you refer to unconsciously every time you make a multiple choice decision. For example: If I get two invitations to go out in the evening and the driving force of my life is to have fun, I will choose the one that I think will be the most fun. If my driving force is security, I will choose the safest one. If it is comfort, I will choose the one that requires the least effort.

What is your driving force? What influences every decision you make? What does God say it should be? He tells us in 1 Corinthians 14:1, “Let love be your highest goal, …” (NLT)

Why would God tell us that love should be our highest goal? Love Is: Our current series on Sunday mornings focuses in on answering that question. By studying the “great love chapter” of the Bible, 1 Corinthians 13, we will see the priority God puts on love, and how as we make love our highest goal we will accomplish the purpose God has for us as individuals and as a church family.

People around us don’t care how much we know until they first know that we do care. What they want to know, what they need to know, is the love of Jesus Christ. Jesus tells us, "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." John 13:34-35 (NIV)

It is how we love that will Draw people into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ – through love we will Develop believers into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ – and by our love we will Demonstrate the power of Christ love to the community of Madera and around the world.
